When I was in preschool, my dad would pick me up with a change of clothes in the car to go fishing in the mountains. From those early memories to exploring new trails on my own today—the natural world is the main impetus of my life and of my work. My mom once told me, “Creativity is like matter, it is neither created nor destroyed, it is only the rearrangement of known material.” When she passed away, my connection to the earth grew as I realized she, and everyone I’ve lost, was rearranged into everything around me. The views from the summit, the flowers in the valley, the snow from the sky—they’re all here—and so am I.
